Patient Resources: American Liver Foundation

Founded by the Association for the Study of Liver Disease, the American Liver Foundation aims to advocate for research and education for prevention, treatment and cure of liver diseases.

The organization offers a number of resources to families and patients including a helpline, support groups and guides and a drug discount card.

The Great Lakes-Illinois chapter of the foundation participates in a number of events including the Chicago Half Marathon and 5K, Flavors of Chicago and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. In October, the group will host the Liver Symposium, a free, CME-accredited symposium open to healthcare professionals and the general public. The Liver Symposium will bring together leading experts in the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology, transplant surgery and infectious diseases to speak about current liver disease topics.
